Putting together a trip for a mixed group — grandparents, children, someone in a wheelchair, the daredevil cousins — is usually a jigsaw of compromises. In Socorro the jigsaw comes ready-assembled: this 2-day itinerary works for ALL the members at the same time, with nobody left watching.
Day 1 — Farm hotel and adventure
Check in at an adapted farm hotel (Parque dos Sonhos and similar) and spend the whole day in the complex: zip lines for everyone (adapted ones included), tree-top courses by level, fishing, pools with easy access and flat trails through the woods. Farm lunch is the meeting point — everyone arrives back from “their” adventure with a story to tell. In the evening, a fire, broths and the starry Mantiqueira sky for dessert.
Day 2 — River and town
A morning on the Rio do Peixe: rafting (adapted for anyone who needs it) for the daredevil wing, gentle river tubing or a kayak for the calmer ones — the stretches are chosen by profile and everybody meets up again at the finish. In the afternoon, the historic center with its tactile paving and ramps: the Igreja Matriz, the square, an ice cream and the traditional hunt for knitwear (Socorro is a textile hub — the grandmothers will thank you). A farewell colonial tea on the way out.
Golden tips for mixed groups
- Declare EVERY profile when booking (ages, mobility, fears) — the teams build the logistics person by person.
- Weekdays bring more individual attention; public holidays bring more buzz.
- Ask for ground-floor or adapted rooms along the same corridor for the group.
- Agree a “meeting point per meal”: each subgroup lives its own adventure without anxiety.
- Bueno Brandão, 30 minutes away, adds the rural Minas extension to the itinerary.
🥾 Who is it for?
This itinerary is the answer. Multigenerational families, groups including people with disabilities, inclusive schools, adventurous older travelers: Socorro was designed so that nobody watches from the stands. Effort: each person chooses their own. Children: from babes in arms. Older travelers and people with disabilities: protagonists — not courtesy guests. The only universal requirement is the wish to play outdoors.
