Friday evening in Brasília or Goiânia, and a craving for nature and history in the same package? Pirenópolis solves it. This 48-hour itinerary balances waterfalls, the historic center and a well-laid table — sequenced hour by hour, with 2026 reference costs. The full picture of the destination is in the Pirenópolis guide.
Friday — a smart arrival
Leave after work (two hours from Brasília), check in and go straight to the warm-up: dinner on the Rua do Lazer (R$ 60-120) and a digestive walk through the lit old houses to the Igreja Matriz. Sleep early — Saturday is trail day.
Saturday — the day of the waterfalls
- 8.00am — Cachoeira do Abade (R$ 80 at weekends): arrive at opening time to have the 22 m fall almost to yourself. The full 2.5 km circuit plus a long swim.
- 1.00pm — a light lunch on the way back and a rest at the guesthouse (Piri in the afternoon is hot).
- 3.30pm — Usina Velha (R$ 50, a 200 m trail): a historic swim among the ruins of the 1950 power station.
- 7.30pm — the gastronomic night of Piri: book one of the award-winning restaurants on the Rua do Lazer or the Rua do Carmo (R$ 80-150) and finish with the silverwork in the little shops.
Sunday — brunch in the forest and farewell
- 8.30am — Santuário Vagafogo: a 1.5 km raised trail through gallery forest (R$ 35) and the famous cerrado brunch (R$ 135, book the day before): native fruit jams, cheeses and breads on the veranda in the forest. It is the final “wow” of the trip.
- 1.00pm — last photographs in the historic center, coffee on the square and the road home with the sun still high.

🥾 Who is it for?
Effort: light — the weekend alternates a calm waterfall, the historic center and good food. Children: an itinerary ready for families; the Cachoeira do Rosário is the friendliest. Older travelers and people with reduced mobility: perfect — more contemplation than walking, with a good hotel network.
